The Super Bowl is set, as the 57th edition of the big game will feature the NFC’s Philadelphia Eagles taking on the AFC’s Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs opened as the slight favorite, but the betting public quickly shifted those odds with the Eagles as a cozy -2-point favorite.
Eagles Super Bowl Odds Soar
This isn’t the first time the Eagles have seen favored Super Bowl odds against the Chiefs, occurring multiple times this season. The Eagles actually opened the season with odds to win the Super Bowl at +4000, while the Chiefs were +550 just behind the Bills.
It wasn’t until Week 6 when the Eagles first leaped Kansas City in the Super Bowl odds. The Eagles hovered over the Chiefs for a few weeks, before Kansas City regained the edge in Week 10. The two teams have gone back and forth since, with the Chiefs favored over the Eagles from Week 18 through the Conference Championship.
Points Expected
Oddsmakers aren’t fooling around with Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts on the field, as the point total has settled around 49.5 or 50. With two solid offensive units, this isn’t a big surprise. Also note that the venue is State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona where 48.3 points were scored per game this season.
Quarterbacks For MVP?
Another non-surprise is to see both Mahomes and Hurts atop the Super Bowl 57 MVP odds list. Hurts is currently the favorite to win the award at +110, while Mahomes is right behind him at +130.
In fact, the first six favored players are all on the offensive side of the ball. Travis Kelce and A.J. Brown both have odds at +1000 as the Chiefs and Eagles leading receivers, respectively. Devonta Smith is also a big-play receiver with odds to win at +2500.
Miles Sanders and Isiah Pacheco seem to be the focus backs for each club, Sanders with odds to win at +2200 and the rookie Pacheco to win at +3500. Jerick McKinnon also closed the season strong with Kansas City, given very kind +5000 odds to win.
Haason Reddick is the first defensive player to grace the list, with odds to win the Super Bowl 57 MVP Award at +3500. Chris Jones for Kansas City is listed at +4000, while cornerback Darius Slay also has odds to win at +6000.
