New Golf Majors Scoring Options for 2013
After the last golf major in 2012, we asked the Administrators of our Major Championship Golf pools how we could improve the pool format. We were thrilled that everyone loved the format and it seemed that most of the requested changes involved additional scoring options. We are happy to announce that we've incorporated three significant optional scoring changes to the format for 2013! Remember, these are all optional settings. If you liked your pool just the way it was last year, just leave your settings alone.
These options can be modified by going to the 'Administrator Only' menu and selecting 'Edit Pool Settings'.
1. Exclude Worst Golfer(s)
For 2013, we've added the option to exclude everyone's worst golfer (or golfers). For example, Administrators could set it so that only a members top 5 golfers are included in their aggregate score. Members would still pick six golfers, but their worst performing golfer would be excluded from their total score. This would essentially give everyone one mulligan pick and may help with the heavy penalty of having golfers miss the cut.
2. Pick Restrictions
Administrators now have the option to allow golfers to only be picked once during the season. Using this option, pool members will need to strategize when to use players that they may have otherwise put on their roster for every Major. They'll be forced to make some difficult decisions in the last couple Majors when their roster options are more limited.
3. Bonuses for Top Finishing Positions
Picking the winner (or even a top finisher) in a Major is no easy feat. Administrators now have the option of giving bonuses to members who have picked top finishers. Bonuses, in the form of subtracting strokes, can be given to any of the Top 10 finishers and the size of the bonus is completely configurable by the Administrator.
Bring on the Masters!
We're really looking forward to the begining of the Major Championship golf season. We think these new scoring options will give our Administrators even more control over how to run their pool and will make our Golf Majors pool format an even bigger hit than it was last year.
